We did the shortest loop which was quite easy and had very beautiful scenery. The views of the waterfalls were great and quite close. Great picture opportunities.

Cascade River State Park is my favorite park along the North shore. You can see half a dozen waterfalls in a half mile walk and the views are spectacular. You can park within the park or on the bridge along the highway, but you'll need a permit either way. Make sure to at least see The Cascades from the wooden bridge and read about the "root beer falls." Also check out Cascade Falls further down the river. If you're in a hurry, you can probably see everything and be on your way in about an hour.

Beautiful park! Perfect for a day hike, and they have a campground too! The hiking trails vary between easy and moderately challenging, and are all well-maintained. Highly recommend visiting if you're ever on the north shore.

Beautiful hiking trails just off the shore of Lake Superior. If you want a spot to connect to the Superior Hiking Trail, this connects within the park. With that said, if you're just sticking around for a short hike, make sure you stay within the park. If you hit the Superior Hiking Trail you could be on there for miles before you get another opportunity to get off. Just follow the signs within the park and stay near the falls and you should be alright!

Cascade River State Park is really close to several hikes and only 35 minute drive to the Eagle Mountain Trailhead which will take you to the highest point in Minnesota.

Wonderful state park near BWCA. Great drive in campground with state-of-the-art facilities. The campground as brand new amenities including environmentally friendly restrooms, shower facility, and even a dish washing station on the outside. There are outhouses near every campsite and self-serve lockers of firewood where $6 will get you a bundle.

Highly recommend.
